Main Street Participates in Back-to-School Drive for Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM)
In August 2022, Main Street participated in Memorial Assistance Ministries’ (“MAM”) back to school drive. MAM (www.mamhouston.org) is on a mission to build stable families, a dynamic work force, and vibrant communities by serving and meeting the needs of Houston’s poor. A few of MAM’s services include rent and utility assistance, financial coaching, employment certification programs, English language classes, citizen classes, and medical services.
MAM is dedicated to serving the local community through the MAM Back to School program which helps parents shop for new uniforms for their children, because all children deserve to have a great back-to-school experience. MAM believes starting the new year with new clothes helps children feel confident to greet their friends and focus on their studies. Through this back-to-school drive, MAM distributes over 5,000 school shopping vouchers to local schools for kids. Parents and their children can shop together for the clothes they need.
To supports MAM’s mission, Main Street hosted a back-to-school clothing fundraiser. Our team raised $11,450 to support those children and parents. Each $50 donation to the drive means a child will start the school year with new uniforms, ready to learn.
