About Company

Texas Taxi was founded in 2003 to acquire Greater Houston Transportation Company, Greater Austin Transportation Company and Greater San Antonio Transportation Company and several sister companies in the Houston, Austin and San Antonio markets (together, the Companies). The companies do business as Yellow Cab, United Cab, Taxis Fiesta and Towne Car in Houston; American Yellow Checker Cab in Austin; and Yellow Checker Cab in San Antonio. Yellow Cab began in Houston in 1967 with a fleet of 67 cabs and became Yellow Cab Service Corp., one of the world’s largest taxi companies. In 1996, Yellow Cab Service Corp. became part of Coach USA, the nation’s largest provider of motor coach charter, tour, taxi and sight-seeing services and in 1999, Coach USA became a subsidiary of the international transportation company, Stagecoach Holdings. Today Texas Taxi, through its subsidiaries, operates the largest taxi companies in Houston, Austin and San Antonio and holds over 50% of the issued “for-hire” permits in each market it serves.
